El Retablo de mi Protesta

Retablo artist Edilberto Jiménez returns to the Peruvian Andean town of Ayacucho to create a new art work reflecting on the massacre of December 15, 2022. The testimonies of the relatives of those killed, along with accounts from many of the wounded, form a collective cry against impunity in a city that has long endured the scars of violence. During the years of Peru’s internal armed conflict, Ayacucho was one of the regions most devastated by military repression and political terror. Now, once again confronted by state violence, its people continue to resist — this time, through memory, truth, and art.
