Untitled Grandmother Project (From Poroto to Prachatice) (2025)
Project in Development
Part historical narrative, part experimental documentary, this film tells its story through photographs, letters, and archival footage exchanged between my two grandmothers over decades. Both born in 1921, and growing up through wars and forced displacement—one as a Sudeten German, the other as a Peruvian Andean migrant—the story reveals an unlikely friendship and two women's reflections on love, grief, and motherhood.
"I see this project as a playful tribute to the women who shaped me — women whose stories were never told, as is so often the case. It’s also an homage to my bicultural identity, a way of reconciling the two worlds within me. At its heart, it’s a story about life’s twists and turns, the ‘what ifs’ and the ‘what nots’ — a film built on speculation, memory, and imagination."
